Headline Records in Los Angeles is the West Coast headquarters for punk rock records and all things punk rock

Los Angeles, CA / Music is a driving passion for many people and for Headline Records’ owner Jean Luc Gaudry, punk rock records, shows and the bands are what he lives for.

He moved to the US from France where he was exposed to the punk scene working a radio station in Orleans, France. In 1995, he started Headline Records as a Small Independent Business (DIY). It’s since grown to be a destination for people who love punk rock and punk rock records.

“Started small, that’s one way to put it. More a case of started tiny and grew from there,” he said. “It’s taken a long time to get to where we are but it’s also been worth it. If you are a serious punk fan, then this shop has what you want.”

Headline Records offers vintage LPs from punk standards by Bad Religion, the Sex Pistols, The Clash and the Dead Kennedys. It also has offerings from modern bands that may not be known outside their geographic region of the punk rock record community. The shop also sells tickets to shows and keeps a list of concerts, bands and locations for the fans.

“This is more than just music. It’s more than just punk rock records. It’s about the entire scene. It’s about making a fundamental connection with something that will change you, make you take a harder took at things. And, of course, it’s about listening to the greatest music ever made.”

For some, punk rock is something to enjoy now and then. For Jean Luc, it’s his business, his passion and what he wants to do for the rest of his life.

“The music is primal. It’s a driving energy that pushes you. It’s not music that you should lay back in a recliner and listen to. It makes you get moving,” he said. “It makes me live.”
