Named after the Portuguese place for Samba school parades during Carnaval, Sambadrome is the project of multi-instrumentalist Carlos “Samba Man” Hernandez, a musician with roots in the Sacramento music industry. The music is best described as a blend between disco, electronic, Brazilian samba, and Brazilian bossa nova, giving it a fun, catchy, and energetic vibe.

Trying for a color correction to hair at home can lead to an even worse disaster

The stylists at Juan Juan Salon in Beverly Hills, have seen plenty of attempts at color correction that just made a bad situation so much worse.

“While it’s true that hair coloring is easy to do, getting it right is something that takes time, patience and plenty of experience,” said Jennifer J co-owner of the salon. “Done right, a color can dramatically change a person’s hair color, emphasize what’s there or add just enough highlight to make some really think about what change. Done wrong, well, the possibilities are just about endless.”

Start with damage to hair. A great example of this was the movie “The Fifth Element.” Milla Jovovich’s hair was colored for the movie, but is was colored so much and so intently that it damaged her hair. She had to wear a wig for some of the scenes in the movie.

“That’s an extreme example,” sad Elie J, Juan Juan’s co-owner, “but it’s still an example of what can go wrong. If you insist on coloring your hair every single day, then you can expect some issues.

Another example is when someone colors their hair and gets the color or the shade wrong. Home coloring kits are notorious for this, the ladies say. Adding insult to hair injury, some people attempt a home color correction with yet another bottle of color.

“What the home hair color manufacturers know, but don’t bother to tell their customers is hair is different. There are subtle shades in everyone’s hair that will shade slightly differently, even in people whose hair looks identical to someone without professional training,” Elie said. “Salon professionals are taught to know the differences. They learn how colors interact and how shades will change a color application.”

The structure of the hair also affects how it will accept color, Jennifer said. One major consideration is length.

“Each strand of hair gets thinner as it gets longer. This is just natural wear. It means that what works on the ends may not work as well on hair close to the head,” she said. “An at-home color correction after a first attempt that goes wrong can really damage longer hair.”

Because of awareness, Bedbug infestations are on the decline says new Harris Poll

New York – A new study shows a majority of Americans have begun taking precautions against the spreading of bedbugs throughout the United States. This is according to an online 2014 Bed Bug Awareness Week survey conducted in the U.S. by Harris Poll.

The survey found nearly 3 in 5 (59%) Americans take some type of precaution against bedbugs. Bedbugs hide under and in mattresses and come out at night. They are attracted to sleepers, bite them, and feed off their blood. The result can be painful sores, illness, along with ruined mattresses , sheets, pillows, and other bed clothing.

The survey is being released in conjunction with Bed Bug Awareness Week in a national observance to help spread awareness about bed bugs and what people can do to put an end to infestations. The poll was conducted on behalf of the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) in March 2014 among over 2,000 U.S. adults ages 18+.

“Bedbugs are notorious for hitchhiking and are very easily transported. This makes them an extremely elusive insect and a formidable opponent. Bedbugs are also considered one of the most difficult pests to control by pest control companies because of their quick breeding capabilities and their tendency to hide in small dark crevices often unseen by the human eye,” said James Trucksess of Proactive Pest Control, a bed bug specialist in New York City.

Bed bugs primarily hide in places such as behind headboards, behind pictures hanging on the wall, along and behind baseboard molding, inside electrical outlets, on all surfaces of the box spring and around the rope edges of the mattress. Most bedbug infestations require at least two visits to eradicate the situation.

Pest Control professionals agree that public awareness is a major key in putting an end to bed bug infestations. Ongoing education and persistent vigilance are the first steps to help resolve the spread of bedbugs.

“We are also very pleased and encouraged to hear that so many Americans are becoming more aware of their surroundings and taking measures to protect against this troublesome pest,” said the vice president of public affairs for NPMA.

Mortgage approval is one the reasons it takes a bit for a home sale to close. The lender has to gather information on the buyer, review that and make a decision. While this is going on, the lender is also looking at the value of the house and the title. All this has to be put together and examined at the same time, she said.

For Ms. Rockwell, the mortgage process goes beyond setting up the paperwork. Once escrow is opened, she makes sure the closing happens as rapidly as possible. That’s important, she said, because people don’t need to wait to move into their new home.
