Kim & Kristine Halverson combine talents in art and psychology in their real estate company in Santa Monica
Santa Monica, CA / The Halverson sisters grew up involved in the real estate business, but took a different path in college. One studied psychology and the other went into art. Then, took their skills to work in an unexpected way, making the perfect real estate deal time after time.
“I know this sounds really strange, but it really works,” Kim said. “I love architecture and historic homes. I like looking at them and imagining who would make the best owner. Then Kristine really enjoys understanding people and listening to them. She finds out what their dream home is like. Then, we sit down together and come up with a list of homes which our clients would like.”
The sisters said that personal touch, understanding the property and understanding the customers, is what sets their agency apart from other Santa Monica real estate offices. Realtors must move real estate to make money, but that’s only a small part of the job, they say.
“Owning a home is called, ‘The American Dream’, rightly so. We’re in the field of making dreams come true,” Kristine said. “Anyone can sell you a house. But, few people can navigate you through the purchasing process while making sure you are getting exactly what you want with no surprises and no regrets later.”
Another advantage the sisters bring is the tag-team relationship when someone is selling one property and looking for another. One sister takes care of getting the first property on the market. She lines up open houses, walk-throughs and buyers. The other sister starts the search for a new house.
“This is important. We’re able to look out for our customers’ needs in both directions at once,” Kim said. “We’ve seen a huge increase in older people selling their property to developers. We’re there to make sure the homeowner gets fair value, is treated right and still can find a new place to live which they’ll love as much as the home they sold.”
When it comes to real estate, the sisters say they are in the best location ever. Santa Monica has access to the Pacific Ocean on the west and the Santa Monica mountain range to the east. It has something for everyone, they said.
“Beach to mountains in less than a day,” said Kristine. “What more could you possible want? We live and work in paradise.”
