New Glasses Holder spexGrip Goes Anywhere in Vehicle

Small eyeglasses-clip attaches anywhere in vehicle, simple, safe and fast to use

A new eyeglass holder was designed for use in vehicles, but people who have bough the small device are putting it anywhere and everywhere they need to use eyeglasses of any kind.
Creator Joe DiCioccio said he got the idea behind spexGrip by izzi mo after trying to use a visor-mounted eyeglasses clip.

“We had one of these little things on the visor. I tried to clip my sunglasses to it. This was in 2012. I nearly ran off the road! Right then I decided there had to be a better way,” he said. The design work started immediately.

The first priority was to come up with something easier to use. This meant the person using it had to be able to put glasses on the clip with one hand in less than a second. Typical visor-mounted clips require pushing a button to release the holder. Put the glasses in place and hold them. Then push the clip back into place until it clicks.

“Can you do this with one hand? Yes, if you spend a lot of time practicing and you are not distracted by other traffic on the road. You really need to use both hands, which means taking your hands off the steering wheel,” DiCioccio said. “Decidedly not safe.”

Another problem is the tiny plastic “lock” that clicks when the holder is secure.

“If you live in places where it gets really hot, then you know plastic melts and warps. These tiny plastic bits also break,” he said. “They can break or let go at the worst possible time. We immediately knew spexGrip had to be secure at all times.”

The company has taken three years to design, refine and perfect the izzi mo spexGrip to get it market-ready. DiCioccio said they’ve done that. Further, the test marketing shows the product is being used in more places than just a car. One Swiss user has two in the bathroom, one for his glasses and one for a razor. A New York user writes, “Now I can keep my readers in the laundry room to read clothing labels for washing instructions. No more running upstairs to

“People are even using spexGrip on their boats. Now that is a testament to how well it will hold your glasses,” DiCioccio said.
